II. masc. pr. n. Plutus, god of riches, Hes.Th.969; represented as blind, Timocr.8; “ δὲ Π. ἡμᾶς . . τυφλοὺς ποιεῖAntiph.259:—Hsch. s.v. εὔπλουτον says that π. originally meant wealth in corn. (Prob. from πλέω in an early sense '*flow', '*abound', as φόρτος from φέρω.
