A.placing crosswise, diagonal arrangement, esp. of the clauses of a period, so that the 1st corresponds with the 4th, and the 2nd with the 3rd, Hermog.Inv.4.3; κατὰ χιασμόν Sch.Isoc.12.47.
2. cruciform incision, Antyll. ap. Orib.44.20.32 (-εσμός codd., and so of a noose, Heraclas ap. eund.48.9.2; of a bandage, Heliod. ap. eund. 48.65 tit.).
3. decussation, “σκιῶν” Cleom.1.9, cf. Nicom.Ar.1.19 (pl.); of nerves, Aret.SD1.7.
