ὑπειδόμην , aor. Med. (inf. ὑπιδέσθαι, part. ὑπιδόμενος, in codd. freq. written ὑπείδεσθαι, -ειδόμενος, as if from a pres. ὑπείδομαι, which is found in late Gr., v. infr. 111):—
A.view from below, behold, E. Supp.694; of a prophetic vision, τὴν τύχην θ᾽ ὑπειδόμην τὴν σήν, πείσῃ τ᾽ . . Id.Hyps.Fr.60.37.
II. metaph., mistrust, suspect, Id.Ion1023, Plb.1.66.6, etc.
2. perceive, detect, ὡς . . Dam.Pr. 429.
III. seem, ὑπείδεταί πως εἰπεῖν which he appears to mean, ib.345.
