καταδέχομαι , Arc. κατυ- SIG306.58 (iv B.C.):—
A.receive, admit, “τι εἰς τὴν ψυχήν” Pl.R.401e; [τὸν θεὸν] “τῇ σκηνῇ” J.AJ3.8.1; “πάσαις ταῖς πύλαις τὴν ἡδονήν” Luc.Nigr.16; esp. of food, “τοὺς φακούς” Eup. 350; “πόμα” Hp.Epid.7.41; “τροφήν” Pl.Ti.84b, cf.Arist.Resp.476a29:— Pass., “-δεχθῆναι ἐπὶ γάμον” Luc.Tox.44.
2. receive back, take home again, esp. from banishment, And.3.3, Lys.6.13, D.26.6, etc.: aor. Pass. καταδεχθῆναι in pass. sense, Luc.Bis Acc.31, D.C.78.39: fut. καταδεχθήσεσθαι ib.40.40.
3. accept, admit the truth of, “τὸ γενεθλιαλογεῖν” Str.16.1.6.
4. allow, permit of, “ἀναβολήν” Suid. s.v. εἰσαγγελία; τὴν μῖξιν Phlp.in GC189.6.
