A.go in and announce a person, Hdt. 3.118, Lys.1.20, etc.; “πρός τινα” X.Cyr.8.3.20.
b. submit a person's name, PCair.Preis.18.7 (iv A.D.), etc.
2. take a messagein, E.Ba.173 : generally, announce, report a thing, “τὰ ἐσαγγελλόμενα” Th.6.41; of the senses, “εἰ. πολλὰς διαφοράς” Arist.Sens.437a2, cf. Insomn.461b3:—Pass., “ἐσαγγελθέντων ὅτι..” information having been given that..., Th.1.116, cf.3.3,6.52.
3. lay information, = μηνύω, X.HG3.3.5, OGI669.39(Egypt, i A.D.).
II. in the technical sense of εἰσαγγελία, lay an impeachment, “περί τινος εἰς τὴν βουλήν” Antipho 6.35, cf. And.1.37: abs., D.18.13; “τινὰ περί τινος” Id.20.79; “τινὰ τῇ βουλῇ” And.2.21; ἐν τῷ δήμῳ περί τινος Delat. ap. eund.1.14; “τινὰ πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας” Pl.Lg.763e; τοῖς νομοφύλαξιν ib.910c; “τινὰ εἰς τὸν δῆμον ἐπὶ τυραννίδος αἰτίᾳ” D.H.8.77: c.inf., “εἰ. τινὰ δημηγορεῖν” Lys. 10.1:—Med., “εἰσαγγειλαμένων τῶν στρατηγῶν” SIG742.21 (Ephesus, i B.C.):—Pass., to be impeached, D.18.250, Hyp.Eux.3.
