A.busied about, busy, epith. of Κύπρις, S.Tr.860:—in Hom. and Hdt. only as fem. Subst., handmaid, waiting-woman, Od.1.331, 6.199, etc.; “λάβετ᾽ ἀμφίπολοι γραίας ἀμενοῦς” E.Supp.1115:—with other Substs., ἀ. ταμίη, γραῦς, Il.24.302, Od.1.191.
b. later, handmaid of gods, priestess, “θεᾶς” E.IT1114; “Διός” IG14.2111.
2. masc., attendant, follower, Pi.O.6.32.
3. masc., priest, sacrist, E.Fr.982; “ὁ τῶν θεῶν ἀ.” Phld.D.1.13, cf. Plu. Comp.Demetr.Ant.3, IG9(1).683 (Corcyra).
