A.that which is poured over, sauce, Ar.Av.535 (anap.), 1637; “βολβοὺς . . καταχύσματι δεύσας” Pl.Com.173.9; “τὰ κ. ὄξος οὐκ ἔχει” Philonid.9.
2. καταχύσματα, τά, handfuls of nuts, figs, etc., showered over a bride, “τὰ κ. κατάχει τοῦ νυμφίου” Theopomp.Com.14; also on a new slave, by way of welcome, Ar.Pl.768 (cf. Sch.adloc.), D.45.74; cf. κατάχυμα.
