Plu.2.52e, Caes.15, App.BC5.63: c. dat., κ. τῷ πλήθει (nisi leg. τὰ πλήθη) D.S.14.70; “κ. τοὺς καιρούς” Ath.12.513b, v.l. in Sch.Ar.Ra.1001, v.l. in Suid. s.v. ἀγχίστροφοι (nisi leg. τοῖς καιροῖς, as in Sch.Ar.Ra.47, 546):—Pass., “ὑπὸ Δημάδου καθομιληθείς” D.S.16.87.
II. Pass., to be used in daily intercourse, to be current, esp. in pf. part. Pass., “ἡ καθωμιλημένη δόξα” Plb.10.5.9; “κ. φράσεις” Phld.Rh.1.161S.; “κ. ὄνομα” Alex.Aphr.in Mete.7.9, cf. Antig.Mir.8; also Σαρδόνιος γέλως καθωμίληται has become a proverb, Dsc.Alex.14: c. dat., νόμοι οὐ -μένοι τῷ τῶν πολλῶν ἔθει which have nothing to do with . . , Max.Tyr.23.2.
