A.twig or branch, esp. vinetwig, Ar.Ec.1031, Hp.Epid.4.50, 6.3.8, Thphr.HP2.5.5, CP3.14.6, al.; “ἀμπέλου κ.” Pl.R.353a: generally, cutting, slip, “ὁ βλαστὸς τοῦ κ.” X.Oec.19.8, cf. Arist.HA550b8: metaph., ἀνατετμήκασί τινες τὰ κ. τὰ τοῦ δήμου D.ap.Aeschin.3.166; of the navel string, “πεῖσμα καὶ κ. τῷ γεννωμένῳ καρπῷ” Democr.148.
