A.spit out, “στόματος δ᾽ ἐξέπτυσεν ἅλμην” Od.5.322, cf. APl.c. ; of the sea, cast up, ib.6.224 (Theodorid.) : metaph., “ὥσπερ χαλινὸν τὸν λόγον” Plu.2.328c ; so, of a ligature, Antyll. ap. Orib.45.24.7 (Pass.) ; spit or blab out, “ἀπόρρητα” Ael.NA4.44 ; of an abortion, ib.12.17 (Pass.).
