A.winch used in ship-building, A.Supp.441 (pl.= τὰ ξύλα τῶν νεῶν ἐν οἷς διασφηνοῦνται γομφούμενα (sic, fort. -μεναι), Hsch.).
2. in pl., the twisted cords in a mechanical toy, the untwisting of which releases the motive power, Arist.MA701b3,9.
