ἄνετος , ον, (ἀνίημι)
A.relaxed, slack, “ἡνίαι γαστρός” Philostr.VA6.11; of the hair, Luc.Alex.13; “τὸ ἄ. τῆς κόμης” Philostr.VA1.32:—of bodily parts, relaxed, Arist.GA738a2. Adv. ἀνετῶς (sic Hsch.) S.Fr.641, Ps.-Alex.Aphr. in SE121.32, dub. in Call.Aet.3.1.39.
2. set free from labour, esp. of men and animals dedicated to a god, Hyp.Fr. 72; “θηρία” Philostr.Im.1.28, cf. App.BC1.110; of land, consecrated and lying untilled, Ael.NA11.2, Poll.1.10.
3. metaph., τὴν τῶν μειρακίων ὁρμὴν ἄνετον εἴασαν νέμεσθαι f.l. for ἄφ- in Plu.2.12a; uncontrolled, licentious, “ἐξουσία” Hdn.2.4.4; intemperate, “ἁμάρτημ᾽ ἄνετον” Phld.Lib.p.60.
