I. of persons, unworthy, not deemed or held worthy; ἀνάξιον σοῦ too good for thee, S.Ph.1009: also c. inf., . γὰρ πᾶσίν ἐστε δυστυχεῖν undeserving in the eyes of all to suffer, S.OC1446; “νικᾶνPl.Prt.356a.
2. abs., worthless, despicable, Hdt.7.9, S.Ph.439, etc.; “ἁπερεί τις ἔποικος ἀναξίαId.El. 189 (lyr.). Adv. “-ίωςId.Aj.1392, etc.
